Back in 2010, we hosted our very first Big Summer Potluck in Bucks County, Pennsylvania as a way to meet new friends and do our part to make our community a little bigger, a little better, a little stronger. It must have worked because our friends have continued to come back year after year, and so many new ones have joined us! After three years of hosting this wonderful event in our own backyard, we thought we’d see if our West Coast friends would like it too, so we’re finally taking this potluck on the road! While “BSP” has evolved and changed, we’re committed to our original mission: build community.
LOCATION & DATES: The first Big Traveling Potluck is April 26-28, 2013 (Friday night to Sunday noon) at the gorgeous Plateau Edge in Murietta, CA, nearly equidistant from Los Angeles and San Diego.
TICKET PRICE: Attendees know we pride ourselves in keeping prices low ($150 for BSP 2012). But a show on the road is more expensive than one in your backyard—think of the cost of a restaurant dinner versus preparing one in your own home. Tickets for Big Traveling Potluck are only slightly higher ($199) and that still includes all meals, sessions, and transportation to and from our host hotel to Plateau Edge. There will be 75 tickets available.
Tickets go on sale on Monday, November 26th at 10 AM PST. We’ll post the link to the registration page on our website, via Twitter, and on Facebook. While we don’t expect tickets to sell out immediately, last year’s BSP tickets were gone in less than 10 minutes. If you think you want to come, be ready to purchase as soon as you can after they go on sale. Not around? Ask a friend to buy your ticket for you.
SPEAKERS: We’re very excited about our West coast speakers. You may have heard them before, but not like this. They’re bloggers and photographers, yes, but they’ll certainly not talk about traffic, monetization, or SEO. With the theme “Invest in Yourself,” these speakers will be gettin’ real.

WHAT TO EXPECT: We’ll learn and share loads this weekend, but it’s mostly about having a whole heck of a lot of fun. In our Big Potluck tradition, we’ll start with cocktails and dinner on Friday night. This is your chance to catch up with friends you haven’t seen for months and meet the people you’ve only known through Twitter.
Saturday starts early and ends late, so dress comfortably and come ready to eat, learn, be inspired, and party in the evening. (If it’s anything like BSP, the merriment will continue back at the hotel!)
Sunday ends with a big brunch where we’ll reflect on the weekend and finally say goodbye … or until next time!
ACCOMODATIONS: We have a room block at the Spring Hill Suites Marriott in Temecula… but only until December 28, 2012. Reserve your room with the code “Potluck”. Because our BTP shuttle will pick up and drop off from this hotel only, please book your rooms here asap. Plus, you don’t want to miss out on the late night fun with the other attendees. Plus there’s an indoor-outdoor pool. Plus Temecula is wine country. Enough said!
AIRPORT: The closest major airport is Ontario Airport (ONT). (That’s Ontario, California, not Canada.) You can also fly into San Diego or Los Angeles and rent a car or carpool with friends.
